Cool Networking at your event!

How you can make your events more effective by adding fun-tech to the networking...
When people meet other people they can change the world, or start a little project. But how do I get my participants, my guests to mingle more? What people tend to do is to go to people they already know and stand with the same group all night long. Why is that and how can we help people to mingle more, to step out of their circle, get out of the comfort zone, just a bit?

You could force them by changing the format of your event, but there are softer ways like stimulation...  There are several ways of stimulating people to walk around a bit more and talk to more people, leading to more valuable networking...  The Abbit team has several tricks and tools to help meeting planners or event organisers to drive the networking, but this is a new one we developed and we baptised it: “People posting”. It is pretty simple, it’s great fun, it involves iPad’s and one or more LCD’s or bigger screens... and it really helps.

Your participants enter the venue and walk to one of the iPads and register themselves. In this simple 4 step process they end with taking a picture from themselves and type in their name and company and email address if you want... After clicking the submit button, they walk into the room where everyone else is.

In the reception room, event space or restaurant, where everyone gathers, there are a few screens that are going to be used for the presentation or entertainment later in the event. Now they are put to use for the stimulation of networking by posting the people on the screen. The visitors or participants that registered at the entrance, appear one by one on a screen with their picture, name and company name. All people in the room can see who just arrived and decide to go find this person.
Some will not know the person, but have an interest in the company.
Some will recognise a face but be happy to see the name and company that goes with it, so they can introduce themselves better.
Some will see that a friend is in the room when otherwise this event could pass without seeing each other.

The reactions are always positive, people really like this and they will tell you it is fun and effective!
And you, the organiser end up with a nice set of pictures from your participants, linked to their name, company and e-mail address....
